The Finnish Craft Museum is a national specialty museum for the preservation, care, recording and mediation of Finnish craft culture, the tradition of crafts and knowledge and skills. Here is a glimpse into some of the exhibitions on site recently, when myself (Carol Kajorinne) and cousin, Tuija Hansen, visited Jyväskylä.
Stools and chairs by Paiva Mikola
The Hunt by Ville Heimala, 2019. Hand built and slip-cast, assembled on a board, stoneware and casting slip. This work was part of “The Other Nature of Ceramics,” an exhibition comprised of work by five sculptors interpreting their relationship with nature and using clay as a means of expression.
